Simple Way to Prepare Award-winning Chicken Gyros

Hey everyone, it’s me, Dave, welcome to my recipe page. Today, we’re going to prepare a distinctive dish, chicken gyros. It is one of my favorites food recipes. For mine, I’m gonna make it a little bit unique. This is gonna smell and look delicious.

Chicken Gyros is one of the most favored of current trending meals on earth. It is appreciated by millions every day. It is easy, it is fast, it tastes yummy. They’re nice and they look fantastic. Chicken Gyros is something which I’ve loved my whole life.

To get started with this particular recipe, we must prepare a few ingredients. You can have chicken gyros using 12 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make Chicken Gyros:
  1. Get 500 g chicken thigh fillets (deboned)
  2. Prepare 1 cup (250 ml) Greek or natural yoghurt
  3. Make ready 25 ml lemon juice
  4. Take 50 ml olive oil
  5. Make ready 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper(less if you don’t want it too spicy)
  6. Get 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  7. Make ready 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  8. Make ready 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  9. Take 2-3 cloves crushed garlic
  10. Get Salt and pepper to taste
  11. Get 1 teaspoon paprika
  12. Get Oven tray with 1/2 large onion and wooden skewer- this is the frame that supports the chicken thighs during cooking
Instructions to make Chicken Gyros:
  1. Make the marinade by combining all ingredients except chicken, onion/skewer.
  2. Add flattened chicken thighs - I used the palm of my hand to gently flatten so that all the pieces were about the same thickness
  3. Marinade for a minimum of 2 -4 hours
  4. Assemble marinated chicken thighs on the skewer - add at right angles to each other to even out the gyros stack.
  5. Bake in oven at 200 degrees centigrade for 1 hour 20 minutes or until cooked through. The outside will get a little burnt but don’t worry - important to check the inside is cooked.
  6. Remove from oven, cool slightly and then slice. Serve with salad and pita bread. A nice side dish is some yoghurt with mint (in winter I substitute a teaspoon of mint sauce from fresh mint).
  7. Enjoy!
