The ingredients needed to make Chana daal curry:
  1. Make ready 1 medium size bottle guard (lauki)
  2. Get 1 cup chana daal
  3. Make ready 1 medium size onion (chopped in small pcs)
  4. Prepare 4 garlic buds (chopped in small pcs)
  5. Take 1 " ginger pc (chopped in small pcs)
  6. Prepare 4-5 green chilli (chopped in small pcs)
  7. Get 1 medium size tomato (cut in med size)
  8. Make ready 1 cup chopped cilantro leaves
  9. Get Spices: 1 pinch garam masala powder
  10. Take 1 bay leaf, 1 black big cardamom, 2 cloves
  11. Get Cumin seeds, heeng
  12. Get 1/2 tb spoon red chilli powder
  13. Prepare 1 tb spn turmeric powder
  14. Make ready 1 tb spn coriender powder
  15. Get 1 tb spoon sabzi masala powder
  16. Get Salt as per taste
  17. Take 2 tb spoon desi ghee
  18. Make ready Cooking oil

This hearty, protein-packed, comforting dal is made with split bengal gram, onion, tomato, and few Indian spices. It's easy to make and perfect for healthy dinner when served with rice. The taste of dal differs by region, but the inspiration for this particular dish hails from the Indian subcontinent. "Chana" is chickpeas, and "dal" is split lentils, peas, or chickpeas. Onions, tomatoes, green chili, garlic/ginger are sauted in oil with plenty of spices.

Steps to make Chana daal curry:
  1. Boil the chana daal and lauki in a cooker (add 1 pinch turmeric powder n 2 tb spn salt as per ur taste) for half an hour (medium flame)
  2. In a pan take some cooking oil. In hot oil put bay leaf, black cardamom, cloves. Add cumin seeds and heeng
  3. Add chopped ginger garlic. Do not fry it much. Add chopped onion and green chilli. When it becomes golden brown add 2 tb spn desi ghee and sliced tomato and all spices (powder) and salt as per ur taste and fry it till all the tomatoes become soft.
  4. Once masala fries well then add boiled chana daal and lauki and cook for 10 mins in med flame. In the end add chopped coriender leaves. Chana daal curry is ready.
