  1. Prepare 4 cardamom pods,seeds only
  2. Prepare 1 tsp coriander seeds

  6. Take 1 large onion, chopped
  7. Get 4 cloves garlic,crushed

  10. Prepare 1 tsp each ground cumin,turmeric,paprika
  11. Prepare 1/2 tsp garam masala
  12. Take 2 tsp tamarind paste

  14. Take 580 ml coconut milk
  15. Prepare 680 g firm - fleshed white fish fillets,cut into 4 - inch pieces
  16. Get 1 small potato,peeled and diced quite small
  17. Prepare 12 large prawns, peeled and deveined
  18. Make ready 4 tbsp freshly chopped coriander
  19. Make ready 2 tomatoes,chopped to serve

It's a perfect Indian seafood curry recipe to warm up with! Serve this curry with white rice. Fish cooked in a spicy paste of chilli and coconut with the tang of fruity tamarind and sweet onions. Goan Fish Curry - ambot tik is one of my favourite Goan fish curries.

Steps to make Goan fish curry:
  1. In small saucepan over medium heat, dry -fry the cardamom seeds, coriander seeds and mustard seeds,until they begin to jump.Remove from heat, tip into a mortar and grind to a powder with the pestle.set aside.Add the coconut to the saucepan and toast until golden brown.remove from heat and set aside.In a medium frying pan,heat the oil and cook the onion for 5 minutes.Add garlic,ginger,chilies,cumin,turmeric,paprika, garam masala and cook for 2 minutes.Tip in the ground spices,

Toasted coconut and tamarind paste.Transfer to the slow cooker,and add the coconut milk.Stir together to combine.Place the fish and potato in the sauce, cover and cook on low for 4 hours.Thirty minutes before the end of cooking time,add the prawns and stir gently to coat in sauce.Before serving,adjust the seasoning as needed,stir in the coriander and garnish with chopped tomatoes.
